For someone who loves historical fiction Not by Sight by Kate Breslin is a must-read! Her character development, intricately woven story design, and knack for details make this one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time. It's easy to feel the emotions of both Jack and Grace and you know from the very first chapter that there would be a mystery to solve before the book was through. Throw in the romantic connection between Jack and Grace and you have quite a story!
Jack and Grace come from different backgrounds and for a good portion of this story they both believe each other to be someone they are not. In a way this added to the mystery but also created a huge obstacle as both fought to ignore the budding friendship and growing attraction that stemmed from their car rides in the country. Through a series of events Grace finds herself working as a driver for a man (Jack) whose true identity remains a mystery. Their paths had crossed once before on a night that forever changed the course of both their lives but how each of them saw that interaction is what makes all the difference. The author does a magnificent job of tying in sight by exposing both characters' blindness when it comes to how they see people and situations within their lives. As you read Not by Sight I hope that as you witness Jack and Grace seeing things clearly, you'll be able to open your own eyes to people and situations in your own life that you've been blind to.
I received this book free of charge from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
