Wounded Warrior Project Virtual Race

Three months from today Allan and I will be running the Wounded Warrior Project 8K in Franklin, TN. As we said in this post we are running this particular race to support our friends and family who are serving or who have served our country. In late June my sister's husband left for his first deployment shortly after learning they were expecting their first child and the support they have received from their military family has been amazing. That same week my best friend graduated from an important training school in the Army and I was fortunate to be there to celebrate his achievements with him and his family.

My best friend and I before his last deployment in the Air Force when he served a year in Afghanistan
Wounded Warrior Project's mission is "to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history" and has three purposes:
  1. "To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members."
  2. "To help injured service members aid and assist each other."
  3. "To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members."
While I hope that none of our family or friends are ever injured while serving our country it's comforting to know that there's an organization that will fight hard to help them in every way they can with their recovery. It's important to us that they have those resources and that support system in place to help our injured service members.

So with all that said let's have a virtual race from August 3-17 and raise some money for Wounded Warrior Project!!! Choose your distance and let us know in the comments below! We are making a few changes this time to give you some additional ways to earn entries and the big winner will get to choose where their $50 gift card comes from as well as be eligible for one of the prizes. For all those who participated in our Team ALI Virtual Run you already know about the extra entries you've earned. Here's the breakdown for entries:
  • $5 = 1 entry
  • $10 = 2 entries
  • $15 = 3 entries
  • $20 = 4 entries
  • $25-$45 6-10 entries
  • $50 will earn you 15 entries!!!
AFTER you've donated there are ways to earn some extra entries for each of the following:
  • post information about this virtual race on your blog or facebook (up to 2 extra entries)
  • tweet about the virtual race and be sure to tag @Suz4AU0608 and @wwpinc (1 entry per day)
  • write a race report and send me the link (1 extra entry)
  • email me (suzieq16132 at yahoo dot com) a picture of you completing your virtual race (1 extra entry)
  • I hate creating race bibs so if you make one of your own and include that in your picture you'll earn an extra entry for that too!
Even if you aren't donating and participating we would appreciate you helping us spread the word. If you have any questions let us know! Tomorrow's post will highlight all the prizes up for grabs and an extra incentive for anyone who donates $50 or more!
