We're Going Coast to Coast!!!

As of yesterday our flights are booked and in July we will spend over a week in Boston and then a week in San Diego. I haven't been this excited/nervous since I signed up for my first half marathon! I will get to celebrate the 4th of July on the Cape which I've heard is unlike any other 4th of July celebration. One of our best friends lives in Boston and he already has a list of activities that I'm researching online!

Cannot wait to see Boston!
Once our adventures in New England wrap up then we are off to the West Coast. Colorado is the furthest west that I've been so California will be new territory for me. Allan has been several times and his two bosses already have running routes close to the hotel that they ran last summer. Apparently Allan got fussed at last summer when he went to San Diego and didn't bring me so this year I refused to stay behind!

our hotel in La Jolla-the pool and I will be close friends!
If you are in the New England area (I'm planning to travel to VT, NH, RI, CT, and NY if I can) let me know and we will try to meet up. Call me crazy but I'm actually thinking about running a half marathon in Jamestown while we are in Boston. I know I'm a runner when the first thing I've looked at is races not places to go sightseeing! Also if you're in San Diego let me know and we can meet up as well.

What are must see places in New England or San Diego?
Any great restaurants or places to run?

  1. Have so much fun!! I want to go to the Boston Beer Works, they have watermelon beer! You should check this out too: http://www.freedomtrailrun.com/ I would obviously suggest lighthouses, but that might not be your thing :)

  2. I have never been to Boston but would love to go there.

And La Jolla is such a beautiful place... not quite in San Diego, but do get into the city to check it out too! La Jolla has amazing beaches and cliffs and golf courses! I am so happy for you. It truly is one of CA's jewels. Hurray!

  5. I'm so jealous! I have heard Boston is BEAUTIFUL, and well, living in So.Cal for 4 years I know La Jolla is an absolutely fabulous spot to experience California for the first time.

I definitely recommend George's at the cove on Prospect St. (make sure they seat you on the roof!) perfect spot overlooking everything, nice atmosphere + good food.

If you get the chance to leave your bubble, definitely experience downtown S.D. (Gaslamp District is must) and my favorite spots in Encinitas is Swami's Cafe and Mozy's Cafe, which is actually more so in Leucadia.

Hop in the car and cruise the PCH -- I actually really miss the Golden State!

    Have fun:)

  12. I have heard from several people that San Diego has the BEST zoo ever. My friend Julie who lives there buys an annual pass every year so she can go whenever she wants. You have to go to the zoo! :)

  16. I'll actually be in North Shore of Boston for training for the next 4 weeks, so if you're there before July 20th we should most certainly meet up.

I used to live in San Diego, so depending on what you're in the mood for I can give you my recommendations!!

  17. Live it up in Boston! Yes- like Jamie said - visit Boston Beerworks! I love Boston sooo much. If I didn't already have two sets of family coming up to Maine to visit - I'd come and see you in Boston. & of course you should run a race in Jamestown. Enjoy! Or if you want to trek to Maine - there the LL Bean 10k on the 4th of July. Super fun. I'll be doing that one.
