Rainy Thursday Thoughts

When my weather channel app tells me light rain I expect light rain NOT turn the windshield wipers on full blast, don't drive over 35 mph, and forget seeing much of the road ahead of you type of rain. This is how the weather was here for most of the day. No sign of the sun and I got wet loading grills into my truck so I can't seem to get warm now. On my thrift store tour today I dropped by KMart and found Kenmore grills with 4 burners and a side burner marked down from $260 to $70. We need a new grill as do my parents and my sister and her husband still haven't bought one since they got married. Three for less than the price of one!!!

No surprise that I also found almost 20 books that I couldn't live without at the thrift stores but for less than $.50 each I can't say no! The bad weather that came from the west caused Allan's flight to get cancelled last night so he didn't make it home until today at 12:30 PM. Good news is he's back but the bad news is his bag isn't. Luckily he doesn't need anything in there immediately but after two cancelled flights yesterday, a 4 AM wake up, and a delayed flight this morning he was NOT happy!

Allan looked even more unhappy than he does in this picture!
THANK YOU so much for all of your comments yesterday! I enjoyed hearing what you all thought and as I told some of you when I replied to your comments via email my intention was not to offend anyone or make anyone feel bad but apparently I did since we have one less follower today. (Even though I don't check numbers it's hard to ignore the number of followers since I see it every time I log in to blogger.) I was terrified ALL day that someone was going to leave a comment lashing out at me for something I said and it would make me cry. Yes, I realize how ridiculous that sounds but I can be really sensitive at timesand there's nothing that upsets me more than hurting someone's feelings or offending someone.

All of that aside I feel like there was a more positive response for the Aspaeris Pivot Shorts (compression shorts). I'd like to order by January 31 to take advantage of their 50% code "cooleronline" and after ordering a pair of the navy already but seeing all the other colors and imagining how good the black ones would look with my Tommie Copper shirt and calf sleeves I may need to order another pair for myself...

Leave a comment if you'd like to try a pair and I'll pick one of you (via as usual) on January 30, 2012, so I can get your contact information, size, and color preference so Aspaeris will be able to ship straight to you. You will have until January 31, 2012, to respond via email to my blog post announcing the winner or I'll have to pick someone else.

From here on out we will K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) with all our giveaways! If you'd like to spread the word around social media that would be great but we are requiring nothing but a comment. One of the main reasons I like to host giveaways is to say thank you to all of you for reading our blog and following our life's journey so thank you and GOOD LUCK!

***I am FINALLY caught up with reading all of your blogs with the exception of today's posts since writing this post and trying to get stupid GFC to work has taken the last 4 hours of my life. I stayed up until 3AM and made my google reader go from almost 900 down to zero! My comments probably got wordy and I may have sounded delirious somewhere around 1 AM so if that was your blog I was commenting on my apologies!

All Things Blogging

After reading Vanessa's posts (here and here) and Beth's post (and leaving small stories for comments) I decided it was time that I did a post on how I feel about blogging, following, commenting, giveaways, etc. Basically I'm going to hit all the high points on all things blogging that matter to me. I am going to try not to be too wordy but please take the time to read this and comment so we know how you feel too!

  • Hands up if you came across more than one blog that you read because of a giveaway. My hand is up. If you look on your twitter feed or facebook news feed right now there will probably be at least one post from someone about a giveaway that another blogger has going on. I came across a lot of great blogs via giveaways and after reading a couple of their other posts I knew they would be ones I would enjoy coming back to read so I entered and  most of those blogs I still read today.
  • Hosting giveaways: I love to host giveaways and with the exception of this recent CLICK giveaway we have bought every single item that we have given away. I look for things that I think you guys will genuinely enjoy receiving but I also never buy anything that I wouldn't keep for myself. Translated: we buy things in pairs OFTEN! One of the reasons that we haven't had more sponsored giveaways is based on the fact that I will not host a giveaway for an item I haven't tried or don't like. Until I've tried something and know if it's a brand I will stand behind I won't consider doing a giveaway.
  • Entering giveaways: Having 10 different ways to earn entries into a giveaway can be a hassle and I'm sorry if any of our giveaways have ever annoyed you when I gave you all several options on how to earn entries. I feel like people think they stand a greater chance to win if they have more ways to earn entries but apparently most people just find it annoying. I've decided from here on out when we host a giveaway things will be different (haven't decided exactly how different yet) for a couple of reasons:
    1. People can't follow directions. Please leave each entry as a separate comment apparently means write one comment with everything you've done. Must be a public follower means comment that you follow publicly (but you don't) and leave no way to reach you.
    2. We do NOT host giveaways so we can get more followers. I can honestly say that I don't look at numbers unless I'm being asked to report them to someone else. I did when I first started blogging and it takes the enjoyment out of blogging. I started the blog to tell our story and share our lives not to chase numbers. We want you guys to follow our blog because you like what we have to say not because you have to for a giveaway.

  • I follow A LOT of blogs (my google reader was over 1000 last Friday and I had it down to 200 by Saturday night but now I'm afraid to see what it's back up to). I always follow people back that follow our blog or people who follow me on twitter (unless they seem like spam on twitter). **If I'm not following your blog or following you on twitter please tell me so I can!
  • There are several blogs that I followed and for months I read them and commented and never heard anything back from those bloggers. They never commented on our blog posts or even replied to my comments on their blogs. I am no longer reading those blogs because in the blogging world there are too many great blogs to read to waste time on ones who don't value their readers. One blogger did a post saying (and I'm paraphrasing) "Bloggers with little blogs will learn as their blogs get larger that you simply can't reply to comments or follow back those who are following you." Needless to say I immediately stopped following this blog because I felt like they didn't care whether or not I was reading.
  • I reply to every comment we receive as long as reply back via email is an option. If someone has it set up where I can't reply back to their comment then I don't reply. Sometimes I will go back and comment on our blog but I know that I don't go back to people's blogs to see if they replied to my comment there so I don't expect people to come back to our blog looking for a reply to their comments.

  •  I try to blog Monday-Friday but life gets in the way and I don't always have something to say.
  • When life isn't a crazy mess I read blogs every day and comment often. Usually I won't comment if I don't have anything to add or if several other people have already left a comment saying what I would.
  • Sometimes I schedule posts that I write in advance but most of the time I write, read over it to catch errors, and post. This is why my posts are not at the same time each day and probably why I sound all over the place at times.
***I am STILL catching up on blog reading so I apologize if I am behind on yours and if I bombard your email with my comments.****

I say all of this to say that at the end of the day you have to stay true to yourself and stand behind what you believe. None of us answer to anyone else in the blogging world so don't compare yourself to others. Write what interests you and not what you think people want to hear. Blogging is what you make of it just as anything else in this world is.

Giveaways: I've thought about ordering a pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts to give away if people would be interested or a Handful bra. Would you be interested or is there something else you'd like to see in a giveaway? Do you hate lots of ways to earn entries in a giveaway? (Be honest!)

Following/Commenting: If we aren't following your blog what's your blog address? Do you have your email address in your blogger profile or where people can reply to your comments on their posts via email?

General: Is there anything I missed that you have a question about or that you would have addressed?

Honesty in Running & Virtual Run

This week I want to talk about being honest in various areas of our life. After this morning I thought I should start with running. Remember how I had a half marathon on Saturday? Yeah that didn't happen. There was a tornado watch all day so they had no choice but to postpone until Sunday. Well, on Sunday Allan had a 6:30 PM flight to New Mexico so we had to head home. After driving four hours home we wrangled two attention-starved dogs and got ready for a run. The park didn't allow dogs (which I didn't know) and Allan wanted to run the dogs in the field next to it so by the time the dogs ran it got cold and looked like we were in for severe weather so no run for me yesterday.

I wish I could say I woke up this morning and felt refreshed and ready to run 13.1 miles here at home or at the community center but that's not the case. I didn't feel like crap but I didn't feel great either. I changed into running clothes and hopped on the treadmill. The dogs were inside and they are not big fans of the treadmill. Lucky cries and Sasha eyes it as though she's wondering how to disable it when I'm off. This morning Lucky decided I wasn't paying attention to him so he threw the tennis ball onto the treadmill FOUR times. Granted it was pretty cute and the look of confusion on both their faces when I jumped over it and it flew into the wall and under the treadmill was priceless!

Sasha thinks it's underneath there and Lucky sees it as it hits the hall
After nearly quitting at 1.5 miles I told myself the least I could do was complete Running, Loving, Living's 34th Birthday/1st Blogiversary 3.5 mile run. Never has 3.5 miles been so hard to do but I toughed it out and finished the run at a pitiful time (pictured below).

Pace of a turtle? Yes

Yes, I realize that most of you could run this distance in nearly half this time. Now I realize I'm not fast but I haven't run this slow since I started running. I've been running long enough to know that the best thing to do when I feel like this is to call it a day which obviously I didn't do today. If the run isn't there for me then no amount of pushing is going to change that. Turns out my hamstring was tight once I stopped running so after a shower and a date with my foam roller I am hoping that it will feel fine. On the plus side I did push myself two miles more than I thought I could do and completed the virtual run. If you haven't signed up for this virtual run and the chance to win some pretty amazing prizes it's not too late! You still have until January 27th to get your 3.5 mile run knocked out so sign up here.

So back to being honest. I'm going to lay out a few things about my running that I need to be honest about:

1. Running this month has been terrible since I've been sick. 13.5 miles is all I've logged.
2. Today is the first day I've used my foam roller even though I should have used it before today.
3. I don't stretch like I should and I know that's bad but I'm working on stretching more.
4. I am not fast and I'm ok with that.
5. Allan is faster than me and I'm ok with that too.
6. It wasn't until I ran a 15K in October that I thought I could call myself a runner.
7. I hate 5K's. Crazy but it takes me 3 miles to really start feeling good. Quite often the first 3 miles are my slowest and I actually enjoy the miles after those much more.
8. Aside from one weekend in October and three weekends for weddings the rest of this year is focused around my race calendar. Don't worry family and friends have been warned!
9. I want to run a sub-30 5K this year so bad!
10. I run-walk all my races with the exception of the Paint the Streets 5K we ran last July.

There you have it. An honest look at how I feel about my running. Even though today's run was rough I am hoping that tomorrow I can knock out my half that I'm making up and tell you guys all about it!

Anyone else having a low mileage month for January? Anything you want to honest about with your running?

First Long Run of 2012 & a Winner!!!

If you are friends with me on Daily Mile (if not please add me-I've been trying to add people but I'm sure I've missed several of you!) then you know Monday was not a rest day at our house. I decided with my first half marathon of 2012 looming it was time to take a nice long run and see if I was recovered from the plague and ready for a run of that distance.

I also decided I would experiment with new everything for the run in case it's cold this weekend. I ran in Hind running pants, a new Under Armour shirt, a light Hind running jacket, one of my Mizunos that have only been used for a few short runs, Agloves, Wright socks (thank you Beth, Sarah, and Bobbie), a fuel belt that holds one large water bottle, a sports bra I've only worn for shorter runs, and used a new app on my phone to track time and distance.

Allan has been running around the baseball fields next to the community center and I finally decided to go with him Monday. I may have found a new favorite place to run! A lap is .47 miles so even without my app keeping track of my distance for me it's pretty easy to estimate how far you are running there. Allan and I ran 5 miles together and then I did another 3 for a total of 8. I could have knocked out a 10-12 mile run but the sports bra had other plans.

Long story short it will no longer be used for running distances greater than 3 miles. I should have stuck with one of my three Nike DriFit ones but noooo I had to do an "experiment" with all new running gear. The good news is that everything else was perfect and if I have to run a half marathon in the cold I feel comfortable running in all of the new gear.

Needless to say I feel ready for my first half marathon of 2012 which is this Saturday in Auburn. On the plus side the high is 66 and low is 57 but on the down side there's a 60% chance of rain. Not good! My goal is to finish with a faster time than my first half which was around 2:38. Hopefully my fancy running socks will keep my feet blister free and my new fuel belt will allow me to run hands free. Since I liked the app so much I will also be running without a watch. For me keeping my hands and arms as free as possible is key!

Now for the exciting part: our CLICK giveaway winner!!!! chose #79 which belongs to the lovely Courtney who blogs over at Third Time's A Charm. She is a really sweet person who also happens to be on the 12 in 2012 team with me. If you aren't already following her please stop by. You won't be sorry! Congrats Courtney! Send me an email with your mailing address when you get a chance! Special thank you to CLICK for sponsoring the giveaway!

Any advice for running a half marathon in the rain?!

Atlanta, Pittsburg, & Hollywood in a Weekend

When our friend Michelle asked over New Year's if we could help her move this past weekend from Auburn to Atlanta it was no decision. What this meant for us was driving to Auburn on Friday and then over to Atlanta on Saturday and back home either Saturday night or Sunday morning with at least Monday to be at home. We got Michelle moved with ease and got to spend Saturday afternoon and night with Alyson. Alyson lived with my sister and I the year before we got married and will always be one of my closest friends. I've been dying to see her condo which I admit if I were going to live in the city this is how I would do it! Her place is gorgeous!

Is this not amazing?!

For lunch on Saturday we ate at CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) for the first time and it was pretty yummy. Not sure if I think what we paid was worth the size of the pizza but that's an entirely different story.

My traditional cheese pizza

After a few hours of watching the 49ers beat the Saints we headed to the Rose & Crown Tavern for dinner. Alyson is a frequent patron and even though we were told there was no indoor seating since half was reserved for UFC and the other for the Atlanta chapter of the Denver Broncos Fan Club she didn't let that stop her. She declared us Broncos fans and after Allan made friends with one of the guys we were allowed to stay in their section. No worries we cleared out before game time so the fan club got their table back just in time!

Allan's strawberry lemonade from CPK = yummy!!!

Despite our best efforts none of us stayed awake for the end of the Broncos-Patriots game and if I'd known the score was going to be so terrible I probably would have gone to bed in the first quarter. 12 hours of sleep later we were all feeling refreshed and Allan and I were ready for the drive home. From Atlanta we actually go north to Chattanooga to come back down to Huntsville/Madison. That route takes us through S Pittsburg, TN, and Hollywood, AL. See where the blog post title is coming from now! The drive is absolutely beautiful and it was sunny the entire time.

Somewhere in TN
We spent the rest of our Sunday watching football, playing with the dogs, and resting before making the last trip to Walmart for the month. Monday is a post in and of itself so check back tomorrow to see how we spent the last day of our 3-day weekend!

My snack for the ride home!

If you haven't entered our CLICK giveaway then you need to get on the ball because the giveaway ends tonight!

***As a side note I am still trying to catch up on blog reading for this month so if you haven't seen me commenting please don't hate me. I promise I am getting there! If you are following our blog and we're not following yours please leave a comment with your blog address. If it's not linked to your google profile we don't know how to find you!

New Year's Day-Part 3

In case this is your first visit to the blog this week be sure to check out Monday's post for details on how you can win samples of CLICK, a shaker, and a reusable bag!

Part 1

Part 2

Be sure to catch Part 1 and 2 of our New Year's Eve weekend adventures if you haven't already. The third and final part of our weekend wraps up on New Year's Day. I was up early and running errands before the rest of the house was awake. By the time I got home people were starting to stir and the breakfast options were being weighed. I put my foot down and demanded IHOP so to IHOP we went, all ten of us!

Julie, Austin, & Slick
We had the best waitress I've had in a long time. She managed our large party with ease and within an hour I had eaten my Rooty Tooty Fresh N Fruity with blueberries on my pancakes and we were headed back to the house. I was a little envious of the ginormous cup of seasonal coffee that a couple of the guys got. It looked realllly tasty!

Suz & Alyson
Shortly after brunch the boys devised a plan to play kickball. It was 70 degrees on New Year's and we were in shorts and a tshirt. I never thought this would be the weather we would have to kick off January! Caroline and I were team captains and once we picked our players the game began.

Alyson, Austin, Allan-my kickball team plus Julie
Caroline's team name was Team Oven and mine was Team Burnin' Down the House, a little play on words after the oven incident from the night before. Gotta laugh at yourself, right?! It turned out to be a pretty close game but Caroline's team won. Allan managed to kick the ball out twice which in our game was an out since it went all the wall across the parking lot if you kicked it over the fence. I didn't get out every time I kicked which was a shocker since I'm pretty sure I was 10 the last time I played kickball.

Slick & Taylor
Kickball worked up an appetite so we ordered pizza to pick up at Domino's and settled in for the NFL games that were on the rest of the day. Alyson and Nicole left in the afternoon leaving us with 8 people. By 5:00 we were getting a little bored and decided to go bowling. Bowling was another one of those things that we did often during college. There was a semester that we bowled twice a week and got pretty good.

Austin getting ready to do work

Apparently on Sunday nights you can bowl for $10 per hour per lane so 3 hours of bowling it was! It was the first time I had used my bowling bowl from the thrift store and I believe Regina (that's the name on the bowling ball) and I are going to get along great. I bowled some of my best games!

Yes, player 2 (SW) would be me with a 160!!!

I was sad to see people start to leave on Sunday afternoon and then on Monday morning. We had such a great time together that this is going to have to happen more often! Even adults need a weekend now and again to be kids and just enjoy being with your friends. This was most certainly a New Year's that we won't forget!

New Year's Eve (Part 2 of the Weekend)

Part 1

New Year's Eve was jam packed with activities and excitement. The day started around 8AM when I headed out for a run in the neighborhood. After I got back I cleaned up the kitchen and waited for Slick so I could run again. We did a lap around the neighborhood together and then split up to finish our runs. When I walked in the house it was Turbo Fire time. I made it just in time for the last 20 minutes of the stretching session and a 10 minute abs workout which was intense!

Apparently our den is a great workout space
At this point the turkey had been cooking for hours and was starting to fill the house with yummy smells! We (Allan) cooked a 25 lb turkey for New Year's Eve which was stuffed with ham and wrapped in bacon. It was done in time for a late lunch. Before and after lunch almost all the girls made a trip to Marshall's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, and TJ Maxx. What's a good weekend without some shopping?!

Allan's giant turkey!
There was also time for ball chasing with the dogs and Lucky got to play with his new bone Slick and Julie gave him. Hours of endless playtime are in his future! Only downside is that he's not big on sharing this thing so he's already gotten in trouble for growling with it.

Love my big boy bone!
For dinner we started cooking the clam chowder in the crock pot and at some point I decided that I would clean the oven since turkey juices had spilled in the bottom. I've never used the self clean button on an oven before and I had no idea that you basically needed to clean the entire oven out before using that thing!

Where our oven was before they took it outside
The house started to fill with smoke and pretty soon it was too much to handle so we headed out to the back deck. I got Allan to wake up when I went in our room for the second time with a towel over my face and told him we had all evacuated and the oven might be on fire. At this point we called 911 and Allan and our friend Taylor used our handheld fire extinguishers to put out the flames shooting from the oven.

This guy nearly took out Nicole's SUV driving like a maniac
Within moments the street was lined with emergency personnel and my oven was on the front sidewalk. Thank God everything was fine and no one was injured. We had no smoke damage and the oven just needed a good cleaning. It still works fine and doesn't even smell bad when we use it! We were able to get back in the house and get things remotely under control as the Auburn game kicked off.

The view of our house from across the street when I went to assure the neighbors we were fine
Within an hour we were able to close the windows and doors and eat the clam chowder which we had rescued from the smoke filled kitchen and plugged in on the back deck during the craziness. After watching Auburn win the Chick FilA Bowl we hung out here and had "dance party" in the den. At one point I did try going to sleep but I managed to creep down the hall in time to hear Allan talk about break dancing in high school. That was news to me!

Watching the Auburn game
New Year's Eve was another 2:00 AM bedtime and by the time I actually fell asleep my body was so exhausted I was just hoping I could wake up before lunch on Sunday!

Hooray for a bowl game win!
Check back tomorrow for the third and final installment of our New Year's weekend fun! If you haven't already entered the giveaway for some great CLICK samples, a shaker, and a nice reusable bag check out Monday's post for all the details!

New Year's Weekend Part Uno

As promised in yesterday's post a full recap of the craziness that has been our life since December 30th is coming up for you all but I warn you I have to break it up or it will be nothing short of a novel. Friday afternoon was when the fun began and Slick, Julie, and their dog arrived.

My best friend Slick and I
Shortly after we had said our hellos and opened Christmas gifts Austin from Boston arrived with surprises of  his own: Caroline and Alyson! Love these girls and I was so excited to see them. This is the first time they have seen our house since we moved in.

Caroline, Suz, Alyson
In a few short minutes when Michelle arrived I was already texting Nicole so she could leave from Nashville and arrive Friday night. Little did we know Taylor was already on his way from Birmingham. We piled into cars and took off for our favorite Mexican restaurant. Mexican food is a tradition of sorts amongst our friends since spending several nights in Auburn bonding over chips and salsa and our favorite Mexican entrees.

Suz & Michelle
On the way home we saw a red Celica with a deer strapped to the back. I stopped driving and whipped out my phone to take a picture. Something like this only happens in the South I think!

Friday night was pretty relaxing. We watched football and stayed up late talking and catching up with everyone. At this point Allan and I are both on Day 2 of antibiotics and we are both still pretty sick so I was pooped by the time 2:00 AM rolled around and I headed off to bed.

Austin & I
Sleeping 10 people in the house was interesting. We had people in both guest rooms, on a pallet in the office, in the den, and even in the library! I fell asleep knowing that this would be an epic weekend surrounded by so many of my favorite people.

Julie, Slick, Suz, Allan

We're Baaack with a GIVEAWAY!

We are back and it's been one heck of an end to 2011 and quite the start for 2012! I'll get into all that tomorrow but for today I am thrilled to bring you our first sponsored giveaway EVER. On Black Friday I ordered a canister of CLICK's Vanilla Latte and later while writing on their wall for another blogger's CLICK giveaway I mentioned that I would love to host a giveaway.

The lovely people over at CLICK were willing to offer one of our lucky readers a CLICK goodie bag with a shaker (there's probably a more technical term but this is what I call it) and some CLICK samples to try. They were also sweet enough to send me a sample of Vanilla Latte and Mocha as well as a shaker of my own. I will NOT be sharing the shaker with Allan!

On New Year's Eve after our morning run and Turbo Fire session (more on this tomorrow too) I made a Peppermint Mocha iced drink with a packet of CLICK Mocha and some peppermint syrup. I mixed it in my shaker and poured it over ice in my Auburn National Champions cup. It was so delicious! I have never been a big fan of protein drinks but this one completely changed how I feel about protein. I literally thought I was having a Peppermint Mocha from a coffee shop! I've been sick since then so I haven't gotten to make a yummy Vanilla Latte concoction but I'm sure it will be just as tasty!

Now who wants to have a chance to win a CLICK goodie bag?! As always there are several ways to enter but this time there are more mandatory entries so please be sure you do those in order to be eligible to win. The giveaway will run until Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 11:59 PM CST. If you can't wait to get your hands on your own CLICK products order a canister of CLICK today and you can get FREE shipping and a FREE CLICK bag by entering the code FREE at checkout!

HBBC Final Thoughts

Alright so I know I haven't been nearly as diligent as I should be about posting HBBC updates on the blog but I logged everything in a calendar I carry in my purse. I'm doing so many challenges that I need my own little workout calendar to keep myself on track some days!

Here's how I did this year:
Week 1: Ran 3.1 miles on Thanksgiving so that's a grand total of 3.1 pts for the week
Week 2: Ran 1 miles on the 28th, 2.5 miles on the 1st, and walked 2 miles on the 2nd for a total of 5.5 pts
Week 3: Ran 6.2 miles on the 3rd, jogged with the dogs for one mile on the 4th, walked 2 miles on the 5th, ran 3.1 miles on the 6th, did 30 minutes of pilates on the 7th, walked 5 miles on the 8th, and walked 1.5 miles on the 9th for a total of 19.8 pts
Week 4:  Walked 1.5 miles on the 10th, 1 mile on the 12th, 1.5 miles on the 13th, 14th & 15th, and 1.75 on the 16th for a total of 8.75 points
Week 5: Ran 3.1 miles on the 17th and 2 miles on the 19th, Walked 1.5 miles on the 23rd for a total of 6.6 pts
Week 6: Ran 6.2 miles on the 24th, walked 1 mile on the 25th, walked 3 miles on the 26th for a total of 10.2 pts
Week 7: Ran 3.4 miles on the 31st for 3.4 pts

Total points for HBBC: 60.35 (including 3 bonus points I had earned)

Obviously I am terrible with eating 7 fruits and veggies each day since I earned 0 pts for that! If I had tried harder I am sure I would have had more points but honestly I tried out this challenge this year just to see how it would go so I'm happy with anything. At least I didn't have a week with 0 pts so I consider that a success!

HBBC was organized very well and the weekly email was helpful. Unfortunately for me I don't think I updated my points every week so I won't be eligible for any prizes (obviously I wouldn't be winning anything for only having 60 pts). This is my only negative from the experience. I was tracking but not entering it into the spreadsheet at the times I should have. Oh well, lesson learned! Hopefully I will do better next year.

Brief Update

Hey everyone!

This is going to be a quick post since I'm blogging from my phone. Allan and I are still sick so it looks like we will be calling the doctor tomorrow for a second round of meds.

We had a couple of surprise visitors arrive Friday so we ended up with a house full of 10 people for NYE weekend. Lots of great pictures and stories to share soon!

I do have some pretty exciting news to share right now. WE FOUND MY JEWELRY!!! I misplaced my jewelry in April when our community was hit by tornados and despite searching all the logical places I could have put it we never found it. Caroline found it in the library in my circle chair! No idea how it ended up there but I'm so excited to have it back!

Hope you all had a Happy New Year! Thursday was the last day I read blogs so if I missed something exciting in your recent posts let me know. I'm pretty sure it's going to be impossible for me to get caught up with everyone's blog this week but I'll do my best!
