Grumble Hallelujah: Learning to Love Your Life Even When It Lets You Down couldn't have come into my life at a better time. From time to time we all have those days or even weeks where it seems like life isn't going your way. It's one thing on top of another and pretty soon it starts to feel like life isn't going your way. Caryn Dahlstrand Rivadeneira doesn't write this book from the perspective that there are steps to take to get your life back to being nothing but sunshine and rainbows. Instead she forces us to take a look at ourselves, evaluate how or if we are letting God take control of the situation, and gives us permission to admit that we are afraid to trust God to help us through a rough time in our lives.
Two of my favorite quotes Caryn shares are:
"There's no reason to think or expect that God is not guiding you just because he isn't as clear with you as he seems to be with others."
"We need to be on the lookout for God at work in everything, and we need to notice how he shows us things."
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is having a bad day, week, or even month and needs a little encouragement without being told everything will be perfect again soon. Her insight is refreshing and uplifting and her writing style is captivating. It really does feel like you're having a long talk with a close friend who's lending an ear and doling out meaningful advice.
I received this book free of charge from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
